    Tamil Nadu rain Live: Schools continue to remain closed as rain brings life to standstill

    Schools across Tamil Nadu continue to remain closed on Tuesday as heavy incessant rain due to the Northeast monsoon has brought the state to a standstill. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday in its weather advisory said that heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to continue over Tamil Nadu for the next two days. The state government assured on Sunday that all necessary measures have been taken to tackle the heavy rain. However, on Monday, three houses in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore collapsed due to heavy incessant rain, killing 17 people, including 11 women and three children. The state government on Monday said as many as 25 people have died in various rain-related incidents across Tamil Nadu since November 29. Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 people have been accommodated in relief camps in Tuticorin, Cuddalore and Tirunelveli districts which bore the maximum brunt of rain fury.
