According to the Karnataka administration, Muslims would no longer be eligible for the 4% OBC reservation. They currently fall within the 10% Economically Weaker Segment (EWS) classification. The state's reserve quota has undergone some significant changes under the direction of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, notably the abolition of the 4% allotment for Muslims.
